Plant Care 101
Every plant has its own personality, but these golden rules will help you keep almost any leafy friend happy and thriving.
1. Watering: The Finger Test
Overwatering is the number one cause of plant decline. Before watering, stick your finger about 2 inches into the soil. If it feels dry, it is time to water. If it is moist, wait a few more days. Always ensure your pots have drainage holes so roots don't sit in water.
2. Finding the Right Light
Most indoor plants thrive in bright, indirect light. This means placing them near a window where the sun doesn't directly hit their leaves (which can cause burns). Succulents and cacti, however, love direct sunlight.
3. Humidity & Cleaning
Tropical plants love humidity. You can mist them occasionally or place them on a pebble tray with water. Additionally, wipe your plant's leaves with a damp cloth once a month. Dust blocks sunlight, making it harder for your plant to photosynthesize.
